The Jomolhari's Loop trek ascends from Paro Valley to sacred Jomolharis base camp via alpine passes and yak pastures, offering a slow immersive journey through glacial valleys, nomadic culture, and Himalayan peaks.
The Jomolhari Loop Trek is one of Bhutan’s most iconic short length high-altitude trekking journeys in Bhutan. Offering an immersive expedition through the pristine landscapes of northwestern Bhutan. Beginning north of Paro Valley at Shana, the trail gradually ascends through dense pine forests, alpine meadows, and yak-herding settlements before reaching Jango Thang, base camp beneath the sacred Jomolhari. From here, the route continues over dramatic high mountain passes, traversing remote glacial valleys and lakes, yak pastures and uninterrupted views of some of Bhutan’s most revered Himalayan summits, including Jichu Drake and Tserim Kang.
Designed in true expedition style, the trek unfolds at a measured pace that allows for acclimatization and deep connection with the landscape. Highlights include the breathtaking camp at Jangothang, panoramic crossings of high passes such as Bhonte La and Takhung La, encounters with nomadic yak herding communities. More than a mountain adventure, the Jomolhari Loop offers a rare opportunity to experience the rhythm of slow Himalayan travel, where each day reveals both physical challenge and profound moments of solitude and connection
